Sráid Henry - and that horrible Spire
The Spire - probably the most uninspiring piece of street architecture in any Capital city in Europe! It cost millions, it wasn't even designed by an Irish person, it has no charm, no class and no street presence. It is just a big piece of metal stuck in the middle of the city's main thoroughfare. An ugly, expensive mistake!

well this time I can't agree, I like Spire, and I can't imagine this city without it. it's very stylish, modern and high enough to be visible in a lot of places.
Yes, it's modern! But stylish?
It IS high and can be seen from different parts of the city, but so is Anthony Gormley's wonderful "Angel of the North" near Gateshead in England" (high)and that piece leaves people in awe.
I do like Santiago Calatrava's James Joyce Bridge, it's modern, and eye-catching. Unfortunately, the City Council in their wisdom have put it in the wrong place and it doesn't do what it was supposed to do - it doesn't function properly as a bridge, which is a pity because it IS inspiring.
But to get back to The Spire on O'Connell Street - sorry Maja M, but it does not "inSpire" me at all !
for me it is very inSpiring:)
