Advertising Eyesore
Described inVillage Magazine as the "ludicrous J C Decaux deal for those incongruous clunky outdoor advertising units in central Dublin that were facilitated in exchange for a notably small number of credit-card bike stands that have signally failed to materialise."
Apparently this scheme is run by J C Decaux, the huge international advertising agency in other European cities and apparently only with limited success. Yet Dublin City Council handed over a huge amount of lucrative advertising space to this private corporation. The ugly eyesores that now blight our city are making millions in revenue for J C Decaux, yet we have not seen a single one of their promised "free" bicycles. What a bad deal! Heads should roll in Dublin City Council - but don't hold your breath!
